Hiking Angel Falls and exploring Coarsegold

Today Richard, Sean and I took a hike to see Angel Falls and Devil's Slide. It was am invigorating 2 hr and 45 min jaunt that took us over hill and dale, but it was worth it (as you can see). We came across quite a few cool things, including a group of vines encased in ice from a water leak.

Later in the day we headed over to the Coarsegold Historic Village which according to the well produced advertisement was supposed to have a plethora of fun and unique things to do. It turned out that this was merely a few shops (most of which were closed despite signs saying they were open Thursdays from 10-4). A bit of a let down, but I did find a 1963 Scoutmasters Handbook at a Thrift Shop.

On the way back to the condo we stopped at another Thrift Store in Oakhurst which was raising money for the Animal Shelter. We found some good clothes and books for a mere $6.50! What was most interesting to me was that all of their department signage (Men's, Women's, etc.) were Salvation Army thrift store signs from Duden Enterprises. I'm not sure how they got them and the clerk wasn't either - rather funny. We also stopped at the Purple Cow Mall which had a sign advocating people to Shop Local rather than buying on the Internet. Funny that the store was full of items that I have seen at every souvenir shop in Old Town San Diego!

Only two more days and we head home. :o( Tomorrow we're going to try to hit Yosemite Valley again to see what the snow has done.
